Today we are going to talk about flooring.   Buyers want a house that is clean and move-in ready.  With this being said, what is the condition of your flooring?     Is it old or outdated?   Stained or worn out?   Do you have multiple colors of carpet from room to room?    You may want to consider installing new carpet or vinyl flooring to get your home sold.

A lot of first time home buyers do not have a lot of funds to install new carpet after they purchase your home.   First impressions are everything.   Everyone loves new paint and new carpet.  It helps hide all the other little things that might come up while viewing your home. .

You don't have to spend a fortune on new carpet either.      You have to remember that this carpet is to get your home sold, not for your enjoyment or taste.    Always go with a very neutral color scheme.    All shades of brown are always safe to go with.    If this is something you can not do before your home is sold due to lack of immediate funds, you may want to offer a carpet allowance.  This will allow your buyer to choose what they would like and they can purchase a more expensive carpet or pad then you might have chosen.   Or you could consider installing the carpet yourself.     Here is a great tutorial on how to install the carpet your self:  HERE

Take a look at all your other flooring surfaces.   Do you have cracked or broken floor tiles?  Is you vinyl or linoleum peeling up or is ripped?   Make sure these are either repaired or replaced.    It's the little details that make a home shine and make the best first impressions.

Need to replace a broken tile?   Here is a great tutorial:   HERE

Stay tuned for our next great DIY project to help get your home ready this winter.
